Academy of Information Technologies
The
Academy of Information Technologies (Akademie für Datenverarbeitung) is a state institution for professional education and training.
The Academy consists of the 'Berufskolleg für Informatik' (BKI), the 'Fachschule für Datenverarbeitung und
Organisation' (FSDVO) and the 'Kaufmännische Berufsschule für IT-Ausbildungsberufe'.
It was found in 1972 in cooperation with several local enterprises. It is maintained by the state Baden- Württemberg and the
district Böblingen. The BKI offers a 3-year education.
At its final examination you can reach the degree 'Registered computer scientist'. It is a alternative to college or university. The BKI requires general or specialized Abitur.
Supplementary to the theoretical
education in the 1. and 3. academic year, there´s a on-the-job training in the 3. and 4. semester, which imparts
professional knowledge. The student is included into a project and can get an insight into project management and internal backgrounds.
